Church graphic design is an essential part of events and promotions inside and outside the church. Effective event promotion is a must-have with any organization, especially churches looking to encourage fellowship, outreach and discipleship. Nowadays, it’s imperative to have a clear church graphic design strategy and process for creating and distributing promotional materials to make the biggest impact. Let’s look at a few traits to keep in mind while making your promo graphics and then we’ll show an example of how to make one.

I don’t just mean your church community, although you can’t overlook them. But you want to think outside of your congregation and cast your net wider with communication so that both those inside and outside your church are being reached and engaged. To help you with this, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Is my church’s communication consistent across all platforms?
  2. What sources do people cite most often for hearing about promotions?
  3. How do you direct online promotions to your local community?

Good church graphic design is defined by how well it communicates the message it’s intended for. There are several things you can use to help your church graphic design stand out and grab your audience’s attention.

Color

Color is a clear way to stand out when you use the right colors or color pairings to attract someone’s gaze and bring attention to the rest of the design. Color can be a way to express emotion, tie in with other promotional materials, and add visual pop to your message.

Hierarchy

When laying out your text, this makes sure that the reader reads the important text first, such as the title or person(s) involved in the event so that it encourages them to then get the rest of the details and follow the design the way it’s intended to be read.

Imagery

Pay attention to the imagery in the design and make sure that it helps your message come through clearly so that your audience makes the connection between the text and the imagery.

Now, let’s see how we can put a powerful church promo graphic together with a graphic from the Sharefaith library.

    1. Open the graphic in Designer to customize it.church graphic design
    2. Select the proper size for your image, based on how you plan to present it or share it. We’ll go with an Instagram post size for this one.church graphic design
    3. Edit the title to the name of the event.church graphic design
    4. Edit the tagline text to include important details for the event or announcement.church graphic design
    5. Lastly, add your church logo in the image to have some branding when someone sees it.church graphic design

Once your graphic is ready, save it and download it to use with your church’s Instagram or any other social media channels where you plan to use it. After you have this one, you can resize it to use in your service presentation and grab all the matching resources to keep everything uniform and professional in your communications.
