Starting out with building relationships through email can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be.

Most of your congregation will have email addresses. You may think that it’s the young and professional people that will interact with you on email, but amazingly, your older generation members may be the fastest growing group on the internet. According to Facebook, their fastest growing segment of users is the 35-44 women and the older age groups make up more users than the younger crowd.
So how do start collecting these email addresses?
1. Add an email request card in your bulletin or newsletter.
2. Add an email line to your visitor cards.
3. Have your adult/College/High School Sunday Classes pass out email request cards
4. Add a “Contact” form to your website to collect names and email addresses
5. Have email request cards available in high traffic locations
6. Have Men’s/Women’s groups collect emails
7. Mention it from the pulpit as a way to cut down print expenses
There are a lot of ways to collect the email addresses beyond these ideas, start up a committee with some of your members to get more ideas.
Once you get the email addresses, you can put them in a spreadsheet and upload them to your Sharefaith/Constant Contact email service easily and you are ready to start building relationships through email!
