My son, if you will receive my words and hide my commandments with you, so that you attend to wisdom, you shall extend your heart to understanding; yea, if you cry after knowledge and lift up your voice for understanding; if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures then you shall understand the fear of Jehovah and find the knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2:1-5)

The way to wisdom is to be fathered. In this series, we have discussed our views about our earthly fathers, the Biblical definition of fatherhood and the importance of becoming a son. These principals are the components of the Daddy Law (See the Introduction) which reminds us of our need to have a perfect father.

The truth is, a father is not a father if he has no son and a son is not a son without a father. Being a spiritual father is the fruit of allowing yourself to be a son. You are trusted by God to be a father as you live a continuous sonship lifestyle. To illustrate and to give instruction on being a son, nothing is better than Scripture. Found within the pages of the Bible is a wealth of practical methods of how to become a son.

The Spirit of Adoption “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by which we cry, Abba, Father! The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. ” (Romans 8:14-16)

InstructionNow therefore, Listen to me, my children, for blessed are those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and do not disdain it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For who ever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord. ” (Proverbs 8:32-35)

CorrectionAs many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; therefore be zealous and repent.” (Revelation 3:19)
It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise than for a man to hear the song of fools.” (Ecclesiastes 7:5)

Honoring Pastors &ldquoLet the elder who rule be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in word and doctrine.” (I Timothy 5:17)
