What is the The Beautitudes?
The Beautitudes as Part of the Sermon on the Mount
In Matthew 5, Jesus begins his Sermon on the Mount where He teaches his disciples certain Christian truths. In this collection of articles, the focus is on Matthew 5:3-10, commonly referred to as The Beautitudes. The words of Jesus describe who is blessed and how believers can enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Included are the poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers and those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake.
