We connected with some of the top graphic designers in the church\u00a0creative\u00a0realm, perused social\u00a0media, and scoured the web to find out what design trends we can expect to see this summer. As temperatures rise and\u00a0beaches get packed, what graphics are drawing people in?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Previously, it could be argued that graphic design wasn\u2019t on the top of the priority list when it came to church marketing and inviting people to\u00a0Sunday services. But recently, church creativity\u00a0has become almost its own movement, with creative professionals stepping it up with their\u00a0Sunday graphics, promotional materials, and content.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Summer seems to create feelings of excitement, joy, and even nostalgia. We\u2019ll most likely see some of\u00a0these ideas popping up in this summer\u2019s church graphic trends.\u00a0Check out these 5 trends to get some #inspo\u00a0for your church\u00a0this\u00a0year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Playfulness<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n

It\u2019s time for vacation, beach volleyball, and flip flops. One graphic trend we\u2019ve noticed on the rise as summer approaches is a feeling of playfulness. Images that are fun and exciting\u00a0with vibrant colors and textures reflect the feelings of the season.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Retro<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Retro is all the craze nowadays, from mom jeans to\u00a0platform shoes, and the trend seems to bleed over into the church graphic design realm. With summer\u00a0kindling feelings of nostalgia, we\u2019ll most likely see\u00a0psychedelic fonts and images, as well as spin offs of 80\u2019s and 90\u2019s trends, like\u00a0neon colors and\u00a0typography. Some vintage styles also spark comfort after a very uncomfortable year.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nature<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Florals and greenery are making a very big debut, along with natural textures and earthy colors. Many people enjoy being outside in the summer, taking advantage of the nicer weather and time off. Graphics will\u00a0represent this and offer contrast to the viewer on their screen.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Abstract<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

We\u2019ve seen some of this already in 2021, but we\u2019re likely to experience more play with abstract art in church graphics this summer. As sort of a combination of nature and abstract, many\u00a0graphics\u00a0are pulling in a manufactured feel and juxtaposing it with natural items like flowers or the sky.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Geometric shapes<\/span><\/b><\/h3>\n

Add some depth to a flat graphic by incorporating geometric shapes to the image. Layer a triangle behind an image of a person to highlight the focal point or place multiple rectangles angled just\u00a0slightly. Play around with these shapes to tie in the graphic and add some contrast.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep things fresh with new designs<\/span><\/h2>\n

Trends are just that, trends. They come and go. Often just as we\u2019ve caught on, a new trend rolls in. It is no different with church graphic design either. But it\u2019s fun to try new things, incorporate the old, and figure out what catches people\u2019s attention.
