There\u2019s no denying that your pastor works hard. Between sermon prep, hospital visits, vision casting, and leading the staff (not to mention the long list of everything else on their plate) they have a lot going on. With all of that, it\u2019s easy for them to feel overworked and underappreciated even if they know that this is what God has called them to. In fact, according to a Leadership Journal poll of readers, <\/span>91 percent of pastors<\/span><\/a> have experienced some form of burnout in ministry and 18 percent say they are \u201cfried to a crisp right now.\u201d In comes Pastor Appreciation Month!<\/span><\/p>\n

While you should be appreciating your pastor more than just once a year, Pastor Appreciation Month is the perfect time to be intentional and purposeful in the way that you show your pastor just how much they mean to you. You don\u2019t have to do a lot or spend a ton of money to make your pastor feel loved, cared for, and appreciated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Provide your pastor with a gift card for dinner and to the movies and offer to babysit to give your pastor a night out.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Fuel a Hobby<\/span><\/h3>\n

Is your pastor a golfer? Consider a new club, hosting a golf tournament, or a round or two on you. Give according to preferred hobbies.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Involve the Whole Church<\/span><\/h3>\n

Send out an email to your membership using your ChMS asking each family to write a note of appreciation and bring it on a Sunday morning, or to the church office during the week. Present all of the cards at one time.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Give a Vacation<\/span><\/h3>\n

One of the best ways to refresh and renew is to get away (can we get an amen!?). Plan a weekend getaway for your pastor and family!<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Try a Sentimental Gift<\/span><\/h3>\n

Pastors love their churches. Work to take a picture of your church building or church body and frame it. Present this to hang in the office as a reminder of your appreciation.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Buy a Book<\/span><\/h3>\n

While slightly stereotypical, pastors love to read. Find a book that would be a great addition to that library.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Make a Movie<\/span><\/h3>\n

A <\/span>picture<\/span> video\u2019s worth a thousand words. Find a videographer who can help you put together a video of church members sharing memories, thoughts, and reasons why they love your pastor. Show it during service.<\/span><\/p>\n
