Springtime is here! That means a season filled with flowers blooming, sunshine, rain, Easter, and much more. This season may be the best season for elementary Sunday school teachers, because there are so many different activities you can do with your kiddos! We asked several Sunday school teachers with various levels of craftiness to give us their favorite spring Sunday school crafts, spring Sunday school activities, and other spring Sunday school games for their classrooms. We then compiled the top spring crafts for Sunday school ideas and want to share them with you! We hope you find these crafts and activities useful in your classrooms and we pray God uses them to teach your kiddos about the love of Jesus!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1. Plant a Flower<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cBut grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.\u201d 2 Peter 3:18<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Flower pot, soil, flower seeds, flower cutouts, crayons and glue.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> During one spring Sunday school class, have the students color the flower cutouts. Glue them to the flower pot. Plant the flower and discuss the focus verse. Explain to them that God wants us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. How we grow is by learning more and more about Jesus — just like the flowers will grow with water.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2. Popsicle Cross<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cI have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.\u201d Galatians 2:20<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Popsicle sticks, glue, and colorful buttons<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> As kids glue two popsicle sticks together like a cross and decorate it with the buttons, discuss the differences between being good and bad. Explain how Jesus went to the cross so we could learn from him how to be good.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Paper Plate Rainbow<\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus Bible story:<\/strong> Noah and the ark (Genesis 6-8)<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Paper plates, construction paper, cotton balls, and glue<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Read the story of Noah and the ark. Explain to them God\u2019s promise to never flood the earth again with the sign of a rainbow. For further discussion topics, talk about God\u2019s promises and his faithfulness to fulfill all his promises.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

4. Handprint Sunset<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cFrom the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised!\u201d Psalm 113:3<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> White paper, yellow paint, markers, and wet wipes.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> At the beginning of your spring sunday school class, have the kids dip one hand lightly in the paint and place it in the middle of their piece of paper. While the paint drys on the paper, have the kids explain different ways to praise the Lord such as, singing, dancing, praying, etc. They can even practice memorizing the focus verse. After the paint drys, have them draw a field beneath the hand print so their hand acts as the rising or setting of the sun. They can then color the picture as they wish. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Prayer Jars With Spring Colors<\/a><\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cDo not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.\u201d Philippians 4:6<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Small mason jars, spring colored construction paper, glue, and crayons.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Decorate mason jars with construction paper during a spring sunday school class. Have the kids share prayer requests. Each prayer request can be written down on a slip of construction paper and placed in their mason jars. This way they can take the jar home with them and pray.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

6.\u00a0<\/span>Cotton Ball Lamb<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me.\u201d John 10:14<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Paper plates, cotton balls, black and white construction paper and glue.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Glue cotton balls all over the paper plates. Pending the age, you or the kids cut out a face, legs, and a tail for the lamb. Glue cutouts to the cotton balls. Explain we are the sheep in God\u2019s pasture. Explain to them that He knows us and loves us.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

7.\u00a0<\/span>Handprint Bird<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cSo don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.\u201d Matthew 10:31<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Popsicle sticks, construction paper, markers and glue<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Glue the popsicle sticks into a triangle. Cut out each kids handprint on the construction paper and glue to the back of the triangle like wings on a bird. Have the kids draw and cut out faces and feet for the bird. Glue the faces and feet to the popsicle sticks.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

8. High-Fives<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus verse: \u201cTherefore encourage one another and build one another up.\u201d 1 Thessalonians 5:11<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed: Popsicle sticks, construction paper and heavy duty tape<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do: Cut out handprints from construction paper and tape to a popsicle stick. Encourage each of the kids to give each other a high fives with their hand prints throughout the spring Sunday school class.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

9. <\/span>Thank You Jesus Tree<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cRejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God\u2019s will for you in Christ Jesus.\u201d 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Tree limbs, jar, construction paper, yarn, scissors and markers.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Place the tree limbs in the jar. Have each student write what they are thankful for on a piece of paper. String the yarn through the top of each piece of paper and hang them on the tree.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

10. Fruit Basket<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cThe fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.\u201d Galatians 5:22-23<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Large basket, different colors of construction paper, markers and scissors.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Have each student color draw and cut out a different piece of fruit of their choice during your spring Sunday school class. On each piece of fruit, write a fruit of the spirit on it. Then, put the fruit in the basket and discuss each fruit of the spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

11. Balloon Balancing Act<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus Bible story:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>Exodus 20<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> 10 blown-up balloons and a blanket<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Place all the balloons on the blanket. Have two kids at a time move the blanket up and down quickly. The point of the game is that it should be difficult to keep all the balloons on the blanket at the same time, just as it is difficult to keep all 10 commandments at the same time. Once the game has finished, discuss the commandments with your spring Sunday school class.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

12. See and Say<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cI have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.\u201d Psalm 119:11<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> One cookie sheet, miscellaneous items (see below in \u201cWhat to do\u201d for more details) and a blanket.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Load up one cookie sheets with as many items as you can find. It can be paper cut outs, items around the room or whatever fits. Have the kids look at the tray for 10 seconds. Then, place the tray underneath a blanket so they can no longer see the items. Ask them to name the items on the tray. Once they realize they didn\u2019t spend long enough looking at the tray to name every item, tell them to try again. Give them 30 seconds this time and then ask the same question. They should be able to tell you more things on the tray. The longer they spend looking at the tray, the more they\u2019ll remember what\u2019s on it. Just as the longer they spend memorizing Bible verses, the more they\u2019ll remember them.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

13. Bible Trivia<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cLet the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.\u201d Colossians 3:16<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> None<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Find a list of trivia questions to ask your kids. <\/span>Here<\/span><\/a> is a great list for younger kids. <\/span>Here<\/span><\/a> is a great list for older kids. Explain how important it is to understanding the Bible and study scripture.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

14. Joseph\u2019s Coat of Many Colors<\/span><\/h2>\n

Focus Bible story:<\/strong> Joseph\u2019s coat of many colors<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Construction paper, markers, jelly beans and glue<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Draw a coat on each piece of paper. Have the students glue the jelly beans on the coat to create a coat of many colors. As they do this, share the story of Joseph during this spring Sunday school class.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

15. <\/span>Carrot Footprints<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cAnd your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, \u201cThis is the way, walk in it,\u201d when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.\u201d Isaiah 30:21<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> White paper, green construction paper, glue, orange paint and wet wipes<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Have each kid put paint on the bottom of one foot and place it on the white paper. Cut out long leaves from the construction paper and glue those on the top of the footprints to resemble carrot stems. Talk about how important it is to be obedient to the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

16.\u00a0<\/span>Seed bombs<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n

Focus verse:<\/strong> \u201cSo neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.\u201d 1 Corinthians 3:7<\/span><\/p>\n

Materials needed:<\/strong> Six pieces of different colored construction paper cut into small 1 inch squares, water, flower seeds and food processor.<\/span><\/p>\n

What to do:<\/strong> Place construction paper pieces into a bowl and cover with water. Let the paper soak for 20 minutes. After it has soaked, place it into the food processor and pulse the food processor until it turns into pulp. Grab about a tablespoon of pulp and a few flower seeds and roll into a ball. If the pulp is too dry to roll into a ball, try add a few drops of water until you can roll it. After they are dry, they are ready to use! This would make an excellent Mother\u2019s Day craft! While all of this happens, discuss how the Lord is the one who give growth.<\/span><\/p>\n
