Brokenhearted over the crucifixion of Jesus, two disciples were on a seven-mile journey on the road to the village of Emmaus. They were joined by a stranger who explained to them how scripture foretold the death and resurrection of the Messiah. After being invited by the disciples to dinner, the stranger broke bread and blessed it and the disciples recognized that he was the risen Jesus. Luke 24:13-35
