Mac Font Download and Installing Help



Once you've found a new font that you would like to use, left click on the preview image to download. You'll then need to download the font and install it on your computer. All .ttf (True-Type Font) files have been compressed to minimize the file size so your download is faster. After downloading the file, you need to decompress or "unstuff" it using a .zip utility. If you need a free tool to decompress the file, visit www.stuffit.com. For beginning users, we recommend downloading the "StuffIt Expander". Mac OS X 10.3.x and later To install fonts in Mac OS 10.3.x and later, follow the instructions below:
  1. Locate the font file you wish to install, and double-click the icon. The Font Book will open and display the font so you can see what it looks like.
  2. Click Install Font.
  3. By default, the application installs the font in the Library folder of your home directory, making it available only to you. To make it available to all users on the computer, in the Font Book application, drag the font to the Computer folder in the "Collection" column.
Note: If the Computer folder is not visible, first click the triangle next to All Fonts in the "Collection" column. Mac OS X 10.0 to 10.2.x To install fonts in Mac OS 10.0 to 10.2.x, follow the instructions below:
  1. In the Finder, from the Go menu, select Home.
  2. Double-click the Library folder.
  3. Drag the font or fonts you want to install into the Fonts folder.
If you would like to make the font or fonts available to all users on the computer, log into an administrator account, then follow these steps:
  1. In the Finder, from the Go menu, select Go to Folder... .
  2. In the "Go to the Folder:" field, type: /Library/ . Then click the Go button.
  3. Drag the font or fonts you want to install into the Fonts folder.
Mac OS 9 and earlier To install fonts in Mac OS 9 and earlier, follow the instructions below:
  1. Quit all applications that are in use. Fonts are not automatically activated in applications which are open during installation.
  2. Open the *.zip archive you've downloaded.
  3. Choose the TrueType font files you would like to install.
  4. Select all and drag the files to the closed system folder icon.
  5. A system message will appear. Click ?ok?.
  6. Open up your application. The fonts should now appear in your applications font menu.
