Various Forms of Worship in the Church Part 4

Worshipping God Through Giving

Tithing PowerPoints
Worship comes from the heart and from actions. (see: What is Worship?) Believers acknowledge His goodness and greatness by petitions and thank offerings of prayer (see: Varied Methods of Praise and Worship within the Church Part II), give Him praise in song (see: Varied Methods of Praise and Worship within the Church Part I), and honor Him by blessing others with gifts and talents (see: Varied Methods of Praise and Worship within the Church Part V).

Jesus makes it clear that to give to those in need is the same as giving to Him:

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:35-40 NIV)

The prophet Isaiah makes it clear that the fast acceptable to God as worship is to give of self, time and substance to those in need. (Isaiah 58)

Feed the Poor:Share your food with the hungry” (Isaiah 58:7 NIV)

Clothe the Naked:When you see the naked, clothe him.” (Isaiah 58:7 NIV)

Fight Slavery:Break every [enslaving] yoke” (Isaiah 58:6 Amplified)

Provide Shelter:Bring the homeless poor into your house;” (Isaiah 58:7 Amplified)

Help the Oppressed:Satisfy the needs of the oppressed” (Isaiah 58:7 NIV)

Meet Family Needs:Hide not yourself from [the needs of] your own flesh and blood.” (Isaiah 58:7 Amplified)

Care for the Sick:I was sick and you looked after me.” (Matthew 25: 36 NIV)

Visit those in Prison:I was in prison and you came to visit me.” (Matthew 25:36 NIV)

Care for Orphans and Widows:External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need.” (James 1:27 Amplified)

To give to others is to give to God; is to worship Him.
