The question is, “Does my church need a church website.” The simple answer is “Absolutely yes.” There, you don’t even need to read the rest of the article (unless you want to find out about the important Next Step). But just in case you’re one of those people that needs some explanation, I’m happy to provide it.

Think First:  Why Your Church Needs a Website
Rather than just lay down a litany of compelling reasons why you need a website, let me just ask a few questions. Call me Socratic, but I think that a few questions are more effective for persuading than are flat-out claims. Ask yourself these ten questions.

  1. Do I want people to come to my church?
  2. Do I want to have a vibrant assembly five years from now?
  3. Do I want people in my community who need a church to be able to find my church?
  4. Do I want to reach people with the Good News?
  5. Do you want to spend your church’s money in the best way possible?
  6. Do you want to keep in touch with your assembly better, and maintain a good connection with them?
  7. Do you want to have an organized and accessible place for church information and public documents (e.g., constitution, newsletters, etc.)?
  8. Do you want to stay somewhat current in 2011, rather than cling to antiquity and antediluvian modes of communication?
  9. Do you want to help potential visitors come to your church at the right time, provide them with a church phone number if they need help, and help them to drive to the right church in town?
  10. Do you want to increase giving and offerings by having an online giving portal?

If your answer to any of those questions is “yes,” than you need a church website. This is not underhanded manipulation. This is straightforward advice. There’s simply no way around it. Church websites are the means to satisfying any of the above nine questions. Just accept it:  you need a church website.

Act Next: How to Get a Church Website
I’m going somewhere with this. Knowing that you need a church website isn’t enough. Now, you need to act on what you know. Thankfully, there is a simple and cost-effective way to do so.

  1. Join Sharefaith. Sharefaith, long recognized for its groundbreaking work in church media, has developed a new product:  church websites. After months of research, hard work, and careful planning, we are on the verge of releasing a revolutionary new approach to church websites. Now, rather than sacrifice cash, waste time, and hang on to an unwieldy web presence, churches can easily launch a new website for a fraction of the typical cost, easily maintain that website, and (this is a big one) it will look really good.
  2. Follow the instructions to launch your website. After just an hour or so of setup, you can have a stunning church website up and running. We’re not kidding. And lest you think that this is some fly-by-night shoddy operation, with a few gimmicks, added costs, or unsightly graphic design, think again. This is a game changer.

Okay, you’re probably now thinking, where do I click, what do I do, how do I start.

We’re not quite ready to launch. Give us a few days. Stay tuned. To keep up to date with the release, please join our mailing list. We’ll let you know.
