How to setup Twitter, Facebook and Other Social Links on Your Sharefaith Church Website

Your Sharefaith church website provides a simple way to share your social media links on your webpage using the “Social Media Links” widget. A widget is anything that displays on the sidebar of your website next to your content. This tutorial will show you how to add Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, and Flickr links to your sidebar.

  1. Login to your website Admin.
  2. Go to “Widgets” under the Appearance control panel.
  3. Add the “Social Media Links” widget by dragging it from the “Available Widgets” panel to the Sidebar.
  4. Simply enter the addresses to your social networks. If you don’t have an account with any of the social network listed, then simply leave it blank.
  5. Assign the visibility settings.
  6. Click Save.

Home Page Note: The Home page is a little more complicated. For reverse compatibility reasons, the Home page first checks to see if you have Twitter or Facebook links in your “SF Theme Options.” If you have anything entered in the field “SF Theme Options,” then these are the only widgets displayed on your Home page. We recommend removing the Twitter and Facebook links from your “SF Theme Options.”

I have read this article on doing links to social media. How do I do links to other web sites like Bible study sights or Christian radio?

Hi Chris – Currently there are only a handful of fields for the more popular social media websites. If you are looking to add more links, then you could add a Text widget and add these links. Please know that you will need to have a basic understanding of how to create links using HTML as there is not a WYSIWYG editor for creating links. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Chris, I’d recommend creating a small image with a Bible or Radio icon and then adding it to your sidebar using the image widget (http://www.sharefaith.com/blog/2011/03/upload-sidebar-banner-church-website-template/). This will be visually attractive and not require any HTML because the image widget will do that for you.

How do I remove the links on my homepage to twitter and facebook. I would like them to not appear at all on our homepage. Thank you.

Click on “SF Theme Options” under “Appearance” on the left sidebar. Scroll down the page until you reach “Change Your Church Social Links Below”. Remove all of the text in the “Twitter” and “Facebook” boxes, scroll all the way down the page and click “Save Changes”. They should now be off of the website.
