Jesus trusted so completely that God would raise Him from the dead. And He also fully knew that the salvation of all of mankind was hinged on the completion of His mission, including this one final miracle: His resurrection.
The history and traditions of the Feast of Corpus Christi, also known as the Feast of the Body of Christ.
At the Last Supper, Jesus demonstrated his greatest act of servant leadership. He and his 12 disciples had just finished eating when Jesus, with only a towel wrapped around his waist, knelt down at the feet of each of them and washed their feet, drying them with the towel. This overwhelming expression of pure love made a lasting impression on the disciples, and laid a foundation for true servant leadership; one that has become the model for Christians today.
Patience waits for God's prayer assignments rather than presumptively taking on issues for which authority has not specifically been given. Intercession, however, is everyone's assignment. It is not a spiritual gift. The one great need of intercessors is to be cloaked in humility--complete dependance uppon the Lord.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an extension of God's desire for Christians to work diligently together, paying close attention to maintaining spiritual unity, bound together without strife. Persecution is one of the last things a Christian would consider a spiritual blessing. Like suffering, no one needs to seek it out. Jesus did not avoid this subject, but spoke boldly that those who choose to live uprightly and stand for God and speak the truth will be persecuted.
The transfiguration of Jesus in the presence of Peter, James and John is a unique and intriguing event, recorded in three of the four Gospels. It followed Jesus' first announcement to the disciples that he would go to Jerusalem, be killed, but rise from the dead on the third day.
His wisdom was known worldwide and his wealth exceeded all the kings in the world. Solomon spoke 3,000 proverbs, wrote 1,005 songs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Solomon. He supervised the building of the temple with its interior plated with over 20 tons of gold. Like the temple, Solomon was one of a kind.
