In the Miracle of Feeding the 5,000, thousand of people ate that day, and were filled. Everyone was satisfied and no one was overlooked. And there was food to spare! One of Elijah’s miracles was the multiplication of the flour and oil for the widow in Zarephath, but never before had food multiplied in such abundance as the feeding of the 5,000 men, “besides women and children.”
The Lord had given Moses were laws concerning people with leprosy. The lives of the men and women affected with leprosy were lonely lives, and it must have been heart-melting to be touched by anyone, especially by the Lord. This story shows the mercy of God and the healing power of Jesus
Jesus Christ was willing to feed people the words of life and the significance of His life. No human could ever promise such a fulfilling and satisfying gift as the spiritual life which Jesus Christ offered, and still offers today.
According to God's instructions, Moses took a census of everyone 20 years and older who could go to war. The land of Canaan was about to be invaded and it was time for the Israelite troops to be formed and ready. That is how Numbers begins. The book of Numbers does not get its name from the census, however. Rather, the entire book is a compilation of important numbers, many changing the entire course of history.
In just a few hours, the entire congregation of Israel was disgruntled and murmuring against Moses began. Moses heard it, and the Lord heard it, too. This was now the sixth time the people had uttered their blatant unbelief in God's ability to provide and Moses inability to lead, and the worst was yet to come.
Every believer has been given the task to love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love their neighbor as themselves. This requires constant effort on the part of the believer.
